On October 8, 2026, Google Cloud put Gemini Enterprise Agents at the center of its Gemini at Work event. The pitch is simple. You give the agent an objective, not a script of tiny steps. It plans the work, calls tools, and brings back finished output inside the inbox, documents, and developer tools your clients already use.

I am Nitin Kumar, Lead Project Coordinator at Debugged Pro. This guide sticks to TechCrunch, VentureBeat, 9to5Google, and Google's own event note. It turns those facts into a practical checklist for India and USA agencies that sell AI delivery, not hype decks.

What Google Announced About Gemini Enterprise Agents

Google calls this a single universal agent for work. According to TechCrunch's report on Google's agentic Gemini launch, the agent can answer questions, create media, write and run code, and complete assigned work from one interface.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Gemini has over 1 billion monthly active users. He also said nearly 90% of Fortune 100 businesses now use Gemini Enterprise at work. That is why Google is shipping the agent to businesses first, then consumers later.

Google's own Gemini at Work note frames the same theme. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the agent can take objectives, not just instructions. It plans the work, uses custom skills and tools, and connects to internal systems to finish the job.

VentureBeat adds a key operating detail. The agent is in private preview for selected customers today. Google says it will be included at no extra charge where Gemini Enterprise is available, including through existing Google Workspace business and enterprise subscriptions. Wider release timing is still open.

How Gemini Enterprise Agents Act Like Digital Coworkers

The coworker mode is the part agency leads should brief clients on first.

According to VentureBeat coverage of persistent Gemini Agents, a manager can spin up something like an Event Planner Agent. That agent can get its own Workspace account, email address, calendar, Drive storage, and a place in the company directory. Teammates can mention it in Chat, share files with it, or email it the same way they would a human colleague.

TechCrunch notes the agent writes an audit trail under the agent's identity, not under a person's name. That matters for client security reviews in both India and the USA.

You can reach the agent from iOS and Android, Windows and Mac, the command line, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, and Slack. Users can track progress in a tasks inbox that shows thinking, subagent work, skills, code, and status.

Models, Memory, and Connectors You Can Actually Use

By default, the agent picks a model for the job. Users can override that choice. Anthropic's Claude models are already supported. Google says open-weight and other private models will follow.

9to5Google lists four memory types Google describes for the agent:

Session memory for the task in front of it, even when that task runs for days
Semantic memory as a structured knowledge base built from documents, people, and other agents
Procedural memory for how a job gets done, including skills the agent writes for itself
Episodic memory for what it has done before

Connector coverage is broad. TechCrunch lists Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Jira, Confluence, Git, BigQuery, Databricks, Postgres, Snowflake, and more. The agent can also talk to Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers inside or outside the company network.

Google also highlighted Smart Routing, multi-model orchestration, and real-time spend caps. Those controls matter when an agent can spin subagents and run for hours.

Security Claims Agencies Should Verify Before a Pilot

Google says each agent gets a cryptographically attested identity and follows the organization's existing security policies. Complex work can run in isolated containers. An Agent Gateway applies company rules to traffic between agents and outside systems.

A Google spokesperson told VentureBeat that agents can only access files explicitly shared with them through Workspace permissions. Activity is logged for audit. Prompts, documents, and chat histories stay inside Gemini Enterprise when customers use third-party models such as Claude, per Google.

Still, Google did not spell out every data residency rule for third-party model processing. It also has not fully answered whether dedicated coworker Workspace accounts need extra licenses, or how many coworkers one org can run. Ask those questions in writing before you promise a client timeline.

Who Is Testing Gemini Enterprise Agents Right Now

TechCrunch names early testers On, Shopify, and PayPal. Google also listed Gemini Enterprise customers such as BNP Paribas, Bradesco, Merck, Orange Spain, Santee Cooper, SOMPO, Ulta Beauty, and Wesfarmers.

VentureBeat notes BNP Paribas is deploying Gemini Enterprise to more than 65,000 employees, and Japanese insurer SOMPO has built more than 10,000 custom agents. Those numbers describe existing Gemini Enterprise use. They do not prove every customer is already on the new universal agent.

Agency Checklist for India and USA Teams

Use this as a delivery checklist, not a sales slogan.

Pick one narrow workflow. Status report packs, meeting setup, or research briefs beat vague "do my job" demos.
Decide personal vs coworker mode. Coworker agents with mailboxes need directory, share, and offboarding rules.
Map write actions to human approval. Emails to clients, CRM edits, and code merges should stay behind a gate at first.
Set spend caps before the pilot. Subagents and multi-day runs can burn budget quietly if nobody watches routing.
Confirm model allow lists. If a client bans third-party models for certain data, put that in admin policy, not a Slack note.
Demand an audit sample. Ask Google or the reseller for a sample trail that shows agent identity, tools called, and files touched.
Align India and USA coverage. Name who watches the tasks inbox during IST hours and who covers US evening runs.
Update client contracts. Add language for agent mailboxes, data shared with the agent, and kill criteria.

If you need help turning this into a scoped pilot, start with software development consulting or compare notes with our earlier Gemini free tier agency guide.

How This Fits the Wider Agent Race

VentureBeat places Gemini next to Microsoft Copilot Autopilot, OpenAI Dots, Anthropic's Claude for Google Workspace, and other persistent agent products. The shared theme is clear. Vendors want long-running workers with identity and memory, not one-shot chat.

Google's twist is the Workspace-native coworker identity plus a model picker that already includes Claude. For agencies, that can reduce lock-in talk in RFP answers. It does not remove the need for evals, human review, and cost control.

FAQ

What are Gemini Enterprise Agents?
At Gemini at Work 2026 on October 8, 2026, Google Cloud announced a universal Gemini agent for work. It can take objectives, plan steps, use skills and tools, connect to business systems, and return finished work. VentureBeat reports it can run as a personal assistant or as a persistent digital coworker with its own Workspace identity.

Do Gemini Enterprise Agents get their own Gmail and Drive?
Yes for the coworker setup. VentureBeat reports a manager can create an Event Planner Agent with its own Workspace account, email address, calendar, Drive storage, and company-directory presence. Google has not fully clarified whether every agent gets those services or only coworker-configured agents.

Are Gemini Enterprise Agents generally available now?
No. A Google Cloud spokesperson told VentureBeat the agent is in private preview for a select group of customers, with wider availability promised but no firm date. 9to5Google says wide availability is coming soon for Workspace customers on select Business and Enterprise plans.

Can Gemini Enterprise Agents use Claude or other models?
Yes. TechCrunch and VentureBeat both report the agent can pick the best model for a task, including Anthropic's Claude models today, with more private and open-weight models planned. Admins can control which models are allowed.

Why should India and USA agencies care about Gemini Enterprise Agents?
Agency teams already deliver agents, copilots, and Workspace automations for clients. A platform that gives AI its own mailbox, calendar, and audit trail changes how you design permissions, spend caps, and human approval. Use this launch to update client runbooks before clients ask for a pilot.
