Gemini 4 Argon is now open to paying developers and businesses worldwide. Google made it generally available on October 13, 2026, through the Gemini API, Google Antigravity, and the Gemini app. It is the first major frontier release from Google since Gemini 3 in late 2025.

For software and IT agencies in India and the USA, this is a pricing and planning moment. The intro rate runs only until November 30. Clients will ask whether Argon beats the model you already use. You need real numbers before that call, not a press summary.

Key Takeaways

Broad access, paid first. Argon is live on the paid Gemini API tier, in Antigravity for Ultra subscribers, and in the Gemini app for Ultra and Pro.
Intro pricing ends soon. It costs $2 input and $10 output per million tokens until November 30, 2026. Then it doubles to $4 and $20.
Built for long tasks. Google positions it for multi-step work in coding, finance, legal, cybersecurity, and science.
Benchmarks are vendor claims. Google says it ranks first on the Vals Index. Run your own evals before you switch clients.
Free access is unclear. Plus and free users were not named in the launch. Plan for paid access only.

What Google Announced About Gemini 4 Argon

In the official Gemini 4 Argon announcement, Koray Kavukcuoglu, Google DeepMind SVP and Chief AI Architect, called it a model for deep work. Google says it handles complex, multi-step tasks across coding, finance, legal, cybersecurity, and science.

Google also claims Argon ranks first on the Vals Index. That index measures model performance on finance, coding, legal, and tax work. Google says Argon beats GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5.5 on various benchmarks. Treat those as Google's claims until independent tests catch up.

How this differs from the Fairwind release

Argon first reached a small group of trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program, announced around September 30. We covered that limited launch in our earlier Gemini 4 Argon agency guide. This week's news is different. The model is now open to anyone on a paid plan.

Fairwind still exists, and Google says it is expanding to hundreds more partners. Those partners get Argon without the standard cyber guardrails. That track is only for vetted security teams. Most agencies should not plan client work around it.

Gemini 4 Argon Pricing: What Agencies Should Budget

Here is the published Gemini API pricing for Argon. The intro rate is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens are 95% off. After November 30, 2026, the rate becomes $4 input and $20 output.

The Verge noted that the intro price is about one fifth of GPT-6 Astra and Anthropic's Fable 5. Even after the price doubles, Argon stays cheaper per token. But per-token price is not the full bill. A model that writes longer answers or takes more steps can cost more per task.

A simple SOW example

Say a client workflow uses 200 million input tokens and 40 million output tokens each month. At intro pricing, input costs $400 and output costs $400. That is $800 a month.

After November 30, the same volume costs $1,600 a month. Now assume half the input is cached prompt context. At intro pricing, that cached half costs about $10 instead of $200. The monthly bill drops to roughly $610.

Three rules we use when we quote this in a statement of work:

Quote the post-November rate. Treat the intro price as a short pilot discount, not the contract baseline.
Price per task, not per token. Measure tokens per finished ticket, document, or report during the pilot.
Check the cached rate in the docs. Confirm how caching is billed after November 30 before you lock a number.

Google Antigravity and the 1M Token Limit

Google Antigravity is Google's agent-first development platform. Google says teams using Argon there increased agentic code submissions by more than 35%. It also says code rollbacks fell by nearly a third.

Argon also gets a 1 million token unified input-output limit through the Gemini API. Google points developers to a new continuation protocol in its docs for long runs. If you build long agent jobs, read that section before you design retries and checkpoints.

Paid API or Antigravity Ultra?

Use the paid API when you are building a client product, need usage logs, or must bill tokens back to the client.
Use Antigravity on Ultra for internal engineering work, such as refactors, migrations, and test cleanup on your own code.
Keep client code rules in mind. Check each client contract before you run their repo through any hosted agent.

What Google Says Argon Already Did

Google shared several internal results. These are Google's own numbers, but they show the kind of work it is aiming at.

Chrome refactor: Argon helped separate core webpage handling from a roughly 6 million line legacy folder inside Chromium's 40 million line codebase.
ADK Python: Working overnight, it found changes that cut in-memory session prep time by 40% and sped up cold imports by 21%.
xTB quantum chemistry: Up to 2.3x faster structure prediction and 1.8x faster conformer search.
Gemma on vLLM: A 2.85x end-to-end inference speedup on an A100.
Other teams: Google also cited YouTube comments compute cut in half, Wing drone physics debugging, and finding and patching security bugs.

Early customers named around the launch include Deloitte, LexisNexis, Ambience Healthcare, and Isomorphic Labs. Google says Isomorphic Labs uses Argon to pull key details from complex PDFs and patents, cutting weeks of work to hours.

On the security side, Google says Wiz used Argon in its Scan for Good effort. Wiz and Google describe closing a gap that risked exposing government data, and fixing a healthcare file download bypass that exposed a master key. These are vendor accounts, so cite them carefully in client decks.

Safety Notes Clients Will Ask About

Google says Argon was tested under its Frontier Safety Framework. External bio red teaming got past fewer than 1% of the bio sub-tasks Google tests. On coding benchmarks, shortcut attempts dropped to 2%.

Google also reports a 0.7% attack success rate on the Gray Swan indirect prompt injection benchmark, across 15 adaptive attempts. It added a misalignment monitor that watches agent reasoning and actions. And Google says Argon is trained to pause for human confirmation before irreversible steps.

That last point matters for agency builds. Do not rely on the model alone. Keep your own approval gates for payments, deletes, deploys, and outbound messages.

A Gemini 4 Argon Pilot Plan for India and USA Agencies

You do not need to move every client this month. You do need a clear test plan before the intro pricing ends. Here is a four-week plan.

Week 1: Pick the work

Choose two real workflows, such as a code migration and a long document review.
Write down today's cost, time, and error rate for each.
Get client approval to use sample data, or build a clean test set.

Week 2: Run a fair eval

Run the same tasks on Argon and on your current Claude or GPT model.
Score accuracy, tokens per task, retries, and human fix time.
Have a reviewer grade outputs without knowing which model wrote them.

Week 3: Add controls

Map risks to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, mainly the Measure and Manage functions.
Log every tool call, prompt version, and model version.
Test prompt injection with your own malicious documents and web pages.

Week 4: Price and decide

Price the workload at $4 and $20, the post-November rates.
Keep a fallback model wired in, in case quality or limits change.
Share a one-page result with the client, with numbers and clear caveats.

If you want help setting up evals or model routing for a client stack, our software development consulting team does this work every week.

What to Tell Clients This Week

Argon is live for paid API users and Ultra and Pro subscribers. Free and Plus access is not confirmed.
The cheap intro rate ends November 30, 2026. Budgets should use the higher rate.
Benchmark wins come from Google. We will test on your real tasks first.
Fairwind is for vetted cyber defenders only. It is not a general access route.
Human approval stays in place for risky actions, whatever the model.

The Bigger Picture

Google skipped a Gemini 3.5 Pro release, which it announced in September. The launch also follows a DeepMind leadership change after Demis Hassabis stepped aside. And Meta launched Muse Wonder just one day earlier, so the frontier AI model race is crowded this week.

For agencies, the lesson is simple. Gemini 4 Argon is a strong new option at a low launch price. Test it on real work, price it at the full rate, and keep controls in your own code. Then your clients get facts, not hype.
