I'm Nitin Kumar, Lead Project Coordinator at Debugged Pro. I help software and IT agencies in India and the USA ship AI delivery work clients can defend in review. On September 29, 2026, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Space at DevDay as a shared workspace for Pages, files, people, ChatGPT, and Dots agents.

TechCrunch coverage by Lucas Ropek frames Space as OpenAI moving deeper into workplace software. Sam Altman said pages and files live together in Space like a drive, but "spaces feel alive."

OpenAI's own ChatGPT Space docs describe the product as a home for pages, files, and shared work with ChatGPT. This guide sticks to those verified facts and turns them into delivery checks for India and USA agency teams.

What ChatGPT Space is and why agencies should care

ChatGPT Space is the shared container for team work inside ChatGPT. It replaces Library for eligible users. A space groups pages around a topic or team. A page is the editable document people and agents change together.

Android Authority's report notes the pain Space targets: brainstorm in ChatGPT, paste into Docs, collect feedback, then return to the chatbot. Space keeps people and AI on the same material instead of bouncing between tools.

For agencies, that matters because client work already spills across private chat threads. Shared state can cut copy-paste waste. It also creates new ownership, permission, and rollback questions.

Plans and surfaces at launch

Plans: Pro, Business, and Enterprise, subject to admin settings.
Web and desktop: create, edit, and collaborate on Pages.
Mobile: find, read, and share now; creation and editing still coming.
Projects: still exist separately for chats, files, and project instructions.

Pages, agents, and how ChatGPT Space work actually flows

OpenAI calls Pages a document type built for human and agent collaboration. Users can write, research, generate charts, create images, or visualize information. Teammates edit in real time, leave comments, and mention ChatGPT or a Dot.

The Space agents guide shows practical patterns: talk beside the page, select text and ask for a change, type @ChatGPT or @dot inline, or mention an agent in a comment. Review the reply and any page edits before you continue.

Dots versus Space versus ChatGPT Work

Dot: always-on agent that keeps responsibility and can keep work moving.
ChatGPT Work: executes a delegated task across tools and context.
Page: the editable artifact humans and agents revise together.
ChatGPT Space: shared home that organizes those artifacts and collaborators.

Our earlier Debugged Pro note on the OpenAI Dots hands-on agency guide covers agent setup and controls. Space is the collaboration layer around those agents, not a second Dot product.

ChatGPT Space features still rolling out

TechCrunch says OpenAI also announced collaborative slides. An OpenAI representative told TechCrunch Slides was not available at announcement and would roll out in the coming weeks. PowerPoint and Google Slides export are planned.

Android Authority lists collaborative Sheets as coming soon. Do not promise launch-day slide or spreadsheet workflows in a client SOW unless the account already shows those tools.

Confirm the live surface in the client's Pro, Business, or Enterprise workspace.
Separate Pages pilots from Slides and Sheets promises.
Note mobile limits if field teams need create and edit on phones.
Record admin gates so sales and delivery use the same availability line.

Permissions and content movement India USA agencies must brief

OpenAI docs say sharing a page does not expose private chats or saved memory. Anything written onto the page is visible to people with access. That includes text ChatGPT draws from personal context.

Uploaded files follow page permissions. Linked files keep their original permissions. If ChatGPT copies or summarizes a linked source onto the page, that new text follows page visibility.

Agency permission checklist

Classify the page audience before connecting Drive, Slack, or other sources.
Prefer links for sensitive files when you do not want broad file inheritance.
Review generated summaries before sharing outside the original access group.
Keep Business and Enterprise training defaults in the client security brief.
Document who can invite editors on high-impact pages.

Delivery playbook for India and USA agency teams

Use ChatGPT Space first as a collaborative draft surface. Add unattended Dot updates only after ownership, sources, and recovery paths are clear. Treat a living page like light production software.

Week-one pilot design

Pick one workflow that already dies in private ChatGPT threads, such as research synthesis or weekly status.
Create one space and two to three Pages with a named human owner.
Invite a small India or USA pod with edit access; keep the wider client list on view access.
Write page instructions that name sources, update timing, and what ChatGPT must not invent.
Run one Dot or Team Task only after a human reviews the first automatic edit.

Client talking points that stay accurate

What launched: ChatGPT Space and Pages at DevDay on September 29, 2026.
Who gets it: Pro, Business, and Enterprise, with admin controls.
What is later: mobile create/edit, Slides, and spreadsheets.
What we will not claim: a full Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace replacement on day one.
What we will deliver: ownership rules, permission reviews, and a narrow pilot.

How ChatGPT Space compares with Microsoft and Google for clients

TechCrunch notes OpenAI has long partnered with Microsoft while now shipping features that resemble an office suite. Android Authority places Space next to Google Workspace, where Gemini assists across Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, and Drive.

The difference OpenAI emphasizes is agents living inside the shared workspace. ChatGPT and Dots are members of the page, not only side assistants. Agencies should brief that distinction without claiming Space already matches every Word, Excel, or Drive workflow.

Practical comparison points for sales decks

Strength now: shared Pages with ChatGPT and Dot mentions on Pro, Business, and Enterprise.
Gap now: Slides and Sheets are still rolling out; mobile create and edit are incomplete.
Integration path: connected apps such as Google Drive and Slack, plus @ChatGPT mentions in Slack and Teams on Business and Enterprise.
Risk to name: living pages can move summarized content across permission boundaries.

Team Tasks, Slack mentions, and automation boundaries

Business and Enterprise teams can use Team Tasks for recurring or event-triggered work, such as weekly project updates or a new Slack message. Teammates can refine shared instructions together. That automation layer sits under Space and can update the same project state Dots touch.

Android Authority and OpenAI docs also describe @ChatGPT mentions in Slack and Microsoft Teams for Business and Enterprise, subject to workspace and app permissions. Treat those mentions like production hooks. Who can change the instruction matters as much as who can edit the page.

List every automation allowed to write to an authoritative page.
Require a human diff review for material changes to pricing, policy, or release content.
Test revocation when a teammate leaves or a Drive file access ends.
Cap agent budgets so shared tasks do not quietly burn tokens overnight.
Keep one rollback path via export, snapshot, or documented prior version.

India delivery pods and USA client pods: same facts, local actions

India delivery centers often assemble the first pilot Pages and instruction packs. USA client pods usually own legal, security, and stakeholder approvals. Both sides need the same sourced brief so sales calls do not invent availability dates.

For India delivery and captive centers

Build a sample space template with owner field, source list, last review date, and open questions.
Train leads to demo Pages and Dot mentions without promising Slides or mobile editing.
Mirror USA logging and sharing rules when a page holds US client data.
Price human review hours for the first two weeks of any living-page pilot.

For USA-facing product, security, and sales teams

Rewrite proposal language so Space is a pilot workspace, not a full suite replacement.
Ask whether the client admin has enabled Space, Dots, Slack or Teams mentions, and connected apps.
Add a permission note on uploaded files versus linked files.
Point buyers to OpenAI docs and TechCrunch for dated facts instead of rumor threads.

A clean one-pager helps both pods. Put launch date, plan eligibility, live surfaces, later surfaces, and the first three pilot checks on a single page. Keep it short enough for a sales call and precise enough for a security review.
